Insgesamt wurde kein signifikant erhöhtes Risiko für Gliom in den verschiedenen Gruppen mit beruflicher Exposition bei niederfrequenten Magnetfeldern (Gruppen 2-5, 7-10, 12-15) im Vergleich zu den jeweiligen Referenzgruppen beobachtet. Jedoch wurde ein signifikant erhöhtes Risiko für die Gliom-Art Astrozytom Grad IV (Glioblastom multiforme) bei einer kumulierten Exposition im Zeitraum 1-14 Jahre vor der Diagnose beobachtet (höchste kumulierte Expositions-Kategorie (≥ 2,75 µT): OR 1,9; KI 1,4-2,6), aber nicht im Zeitraum von 15 Jahren und mehr (höchste kumulierte Expositions-Kategorie (≥ 6,59 µT): OR 0,9; KI 0,6-1,3).
Es wurde keine statistisch signifikante Interaktion zwischen einer beruflichen Exposition bei niederfrequenten Magnetfeldern und der Nutzung von Mobiltelefonen und Schnurlostelefonen gefunden.
Die Autoren schlussfolgern, dass ein erhöhtes Risiko für das letzte Stadium (Promotion/Progression) des Astrozytoms Grad IV bei einer beruflichen Exposition bei niederfrequenten Magnetfeldern gefunden wurde.
