Zigbee

German: Zigbee
Japanese: Zigbee

Communications engineering. Zigbee is an industrial standard developed by the manufacturers association Zigbee Alliance and is based on the standard IEEE 802.15.4. It is used for wireless control and sensing networks, which are characterized by a low current requirement. To achieve this Zigbee works intentionally with a lower data rate. There are two types of devices:

Full Functional Devices (FFD):

These devices have all communication functions, can communicate directly with one another and may work as network coordinator.

Reduced Functional Devices (RFD):

RFDs have reduced functions and are built for simple applications with a low data volume. They can not directly communicate with one another, only with a FFD.

Zigbee is a special type of Wireless Personal Area Network (WPAN).
