Molecular biology. Abbr. UDS. A method used to determine DNA repair synthesis. Unscheduled DNA synthesis is synthesis of DNA that happens outside the S phase of the cell cycle. After excision of a damaged DNA fragment DNA synthesis takes place in order to repair the DNA.
