Neurophysiology. Wave V is the most prominent wave of the early acoustic evoked brainstem potentials and occurs about 6 msec after stimulation. It is generated in the region of lateral lemniscus and inferior colliculus. Wave V has received the most widespread clinical attention in differential diagnosis of disorder in the region of the acoustic nerve and the brain stem parts of the auditory pathway as well the estimation of hearing sensitivity.
