Study type: Medical/biological study (experimental study)

Effect of low-intensity extremely high frequency radiation on reproductive function in wistar rats med./bio.

Published in: Bull Exp Biol Med 2006; 142 (2): 189-190

Aim of study (acc. to author)

This study was performed to investigate effects of extremely high frequency field on fertility of rats.

Background/further details

10 adult male rats with normal fertility were examined in their spermatogenesis and coupled with unexposed female rats to estimate effects of high frequency field exposure on their offspring (first filial generation, second filial generation, etc.).

Main outcome of study (acc. to author)

A remarkable increase in the percentage of abnormal sperm was observed in field exposed rats on days 7, days 21-28 and 35-63 after the start of irradiation. Regarding the offspring, the litter size of first filial generation exceeded normal litter size.
