Study type: Medical/biological study (experimental study)

The lack of histological changes of CDMA cellular phone-based radio frequency on rat testis med./bio.

Published in: Bioelectromagnetics 2010; 31 (7): 528-534

Aim of study (acc. to author)

To study if radiofrequency electromagnetic fields, which does not induce thermal effects but produces a relatively high dose rate, negatively affects spermatogenesis in rats.

Background/further details

40 male rats were divided into an exposure and a sham exposure group.

Main outcome of study (acc. to author)

No significant differences in any parameter investigated were noted during spermatogenesis in rats exposed to 12 weeks of radiofrequency electromagnetic field at 848.5 MHz with a SAR of 2 W/kg. Thus, these data suggest that exposure to 848.5 MHz at a SAR of 2 W/kg has no adverse effects on the male reproductive system.
