Medical/biological Study (observational study)Das Verhalten von Milchrindern unter dem Einfluss elektromagnetischer Felder(original article in German). med./biol.Behaviour of dairy cows under the influence of electromagnetic fields
By: Wenzel C, Wohr AC, Unshelm J Published in: Prakt Tierarzt 2002; 83 (3): 260 - 267 ( Journal web site )Aim of study (according to author) To examine the behaviour of cows exposed to a high-frequency electromagnetic field (by antennas on the roofs of stables). Investigations were carried out on 30 milk farms with different levels of irradiation to an electromagnetic field.

investigation on living organism
time of investigation: during exposure
Main outcome of study (according to author) Significant differences were revealed in lying behaviour, daily behaviour profile on pasture and ruminating behaviour, which could be interpreted as the cows' response to these fields. The results could be interpreted as chronic stress and show a biological effect of a high-frequency electromagnetic field. (Study character: medical/biological study, observational study, full/main study)
