Study type: Medical/biological study (experimental study)

GSM phone signal does not produce subjective symptoms med./bio.

Published in: Bioelectromagnetics 2001; 22 (3): 212-215

Aim of study (acc. to author)

The influence of pulsed radiofrequency electromagnetic fields of digital GSM mobile phones on subjective symptoms or sensations in healthy subjects was studied.

Exposure Parameters
Exposure 1: 902 MHz
Modulation type: pulsed
Exposure duration: 1 session of 30 min or 2 sessions of 60 min each separated by 24 h

Exposure 1

Main characteristics
Frequency 902 MHz
Type
Exposure duration 1 session of 30 min or 2 sessions of 60 min each separated by 24 h
Modulation
Modulation type pulsed
Pulse width 577 µs
Repetition frequency 217 Hz
Additional info

discontinuous transmission mode not activated

Exposure setup

  • after exposure

Main outcome of study (acc. to author)

The results did not reveal any differences between exposure and sham exposure conditions, suggesting that a 30-60 min exposure to this radiofrequency field does not produce subjective symptoms in humans.
