Aim of study (acc. to author)

The association between magnetic field exposure and prognostic risk factors in childhood leukemia was investigated in a cohort study in the USA (see also publication 13388).

No trends were seen between increasing exposure to magnetic fields and the presence of factors at diagnosis that predict a poor prognosis. The results suggest that exposure to magnetic fields is not associated with cytogenetic abnormalities in leukemic blast cells or with clinical factors at the time of diagnosis that predict poor survival.
