この実験研究は、EMFばく露がカルビンジンD28-k(CB)やカルレチニン(CR)のようなカルシウム結合タンパク質(CaBP)の発現を変化させるか否かをマウスで実験した。835MHz のEMFへのばく露時間とSARは、毎日1時間×5日(比吸収率SAR)=1.6W/Kg)、毎日1時間×5日(SAR=4.0W/Kg)、 5時間×1日(SAR=1.6W/Kg)、 5時間×1日(SAR=4.0W/Kg)、終日×1ヶ月(SAR=1.6W/Kg)として、各条件でのばく露後に海馬免疫組織化学的に測定し、CBとCRの発現を調べた。その結果、CBとCRの免疫活性に見られた変化を報告している。

To study whether radiofrequency exposure at 835 MHz (CDMA) affected changes in the expression of calcium binding proteins like calbindin-D(28k) and calretinin in the mouse hippocampus at SAR values of 1.6 W/kg and 4 W/kg at different exposure durations.

Radiofrequency exposure might alter intracellular signaling pathways through changes in calcium permeability across cell membranes. Changes in the expression of calcium binding proteins could indicate impaired Ca2+ homeostasis.
60 mice were divided into six groups (each n=10): 1) control group, 2) 1.6 W/kg exposure group (1 h, 5 days), 3) 4 W/kg exposure group (1 h, 5 days), 4) 1.6 W/kg exposure group (5 h, 1 day), 5) 4 W/kg exposure group (5 h, 1 day), 6) one month exposure group. Animals were sacrificed three hours following the terminal exposure.

The body weights of the different groups did not change significantly. The data showed an almost complete pyramidal cell loss in the hippocampal CA1 area of mice exposed to electromagnetic fields for one month (group 6). The authors conclude that 835 MHz radiofrequency exposure may be harmful.
