Aim of study (acc. to author)

To demonstrate the acceleration of development of spontaneous and chemically induced tumors and the lowering of natural antineoplastic resistence in mice exposed to 2450 MHz during 1-6 months.

Main outcome of study (acc. to author)

Irradiation with microwaves (5 or 15mW/cm²) for 3 months resulted in a significant lowering of natural antineoplastic resistence and acceleration of development of benzpyrene-induced skin cancer. Microwave-exposed C3H/HeA mice developed breast tumors earlier than control mice. A similar acceleration was observed in the development of benzpyrene-induced skin cancer in animals exposed simultaneously to benzpyrene and microwaves. The acceleration of cancer development in all systems and lowering of natural antineoplastic resistence was similar in mice exposed to microwaves at 5 mW/cm² or to chronic stress caused by confinement but differed significantly from the data obtained on mice exposed to 15 mW/cm², where thermal effects were possible.
